Metcolopramide HCL Monohydrate

Deskripsi

COMPOSITION  :
Each caplet of Mepramide contains 10 mg of metoclopramide
Each    paediatric  caplet of Mepramide contains 5 mg of metoclopramide.

ACTIONS  :
Mepramide is a dopaminergic antagonist and can block the gastrointestinal effects caused by the local or systemic
administration of dopaminergic agonists.
In the gastrointestinal tract, Mepramide enhances the motility and accelerates gastric emptying and the transit of intestinal
contents from the duodenum to the ileocecal valve. Mepramide is a dopaminergic antagonist that raises the threshold of
activity in the chemoreceptor trigger zone.

INDICATIONS  :
Symptomatic relief of gastrointestinal troubles (including those of psychosomatic nature), eg. nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia,
flatulence, gastritis and duodenitis.
Control of vomiting due to various causes : travel sickness, morning sickness, menstruation, pregnancy, intolerance for certain
essential drugs, irradiation sickness, abdominal surgery, diagnostic procedures, etc.

DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION  :
Mepramide caplet :
Adult : 3 x ½ – 1 caplet per day 30 minutes before meals.

Children 6 – 14 years   :  2,5 – 5 mg 3 times daily
< 6 years                      :  not more than 0,5 mg / kg body weight/day in 3 divided doses.

INTERACTIONS  :
The activity of metoclopramide is inhibited by atropine and other anticholinergic agents. The effects of phenothiazines are
enhanced by concomitant administration of metoclopramide and may lead to a transitory benign dystonia.

PRECAUTIONS  :
Do not exceed  the recommended dosage. In patients with impaired renal function, the dosage should be reduced because
metoclopramide can enhance the risk of extrapyramidal syndromes. The drug should be used with caution in the elderly and
small children.
Use with caution in patients hypersensitive to procaine and procainamide.

SIDE  EFFECTS  :
Drowsiness, diarrhoea or constipation and extrapyramidal reactions may occur.

CONTRAINDICATIONS  :
