Description

COMPOSITIONS  :
Each caplet contains 10 mg Loratadine (Micronized).
Each 5 ml syrup contains 5 mg Loratadine (Micronized)

ACTIONS  :
Loratadine is a potent long – acting tricyclic antihistamine with selective peripheral H1 – receptor antagonistic activity.

INDICATIONS  :
Relief of symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis, eg sneezing, nasal discharge (rhinorrhea) and itching, as well as ocular
itching and burning . Nasal and ocular signs and symptoms are relieved rapidly after oral administration. Also indicated for
relief of symptoms and signs of chronic urticaria and other allergic dermatological disorders.

DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION  :
Adults and children 12 years and over  :  1 tablet or 2 teaspoons  (=10 ml)  syrup once daily.
Children  6 – 12 years  :
Body weight > 30 kg : 1 tablet or 2 teaspoons  (= 10 ml) syrup once daily.
Body weight ≼ 30 kg : ½ tablet  or 1 teaspoon (= 5 ml) syrup once daily.

CONTRAINDICATIONS  :
Patients who have shown hypersensitivity or idiosyncrasy to its components.

PRECAUTIONS  :
When administered concomitantly with alcohol, loratadine has no potentiating effects as measured by psychomotor
performance studies.
Discontinue antihistamines approximately 48 hours prior to skin testing procedures since antihistamines may prevent or
diminish otherwise positive reactions to dermal reactivity indicators.

USE IN PREGNANCY & LACTATION  :
Safe use of Pylor during pregnancy has not been established ; use only if potential benefit justifies potential risk to fetus.
Since loratadine is excreted in breast milk, exercise caution when administered to a nursing woman.

USE IN CHILDREN  :
Safety and efficacy of Pylor children younger than 2 years have not yet been established.

ADVERSE  REACTIONS  :
During controlled clinical studies with the recommended dosage, the incidence of adverse effects  associated with loratadine
was comparable to that of placebo.
In these trials, loratadine showed no clinically significant sedative or anticholinergic properties since fatigue, sedation,
headache and dry mouth were rarely reported events and frequency of these effects for both loratadine and placebo was not
statistically different.
