Description

COMPOSITION :
Each film coated caplet contains : Roxithromycin 150 mg.

ACTIONS:
Roxithromycin is a new macrolide type of antibiotic which acts by inhibiting the protein synthesis  of microorganisms.
Microorganisms susceptible are :
Streptococci including group A, B and C, S. pneumoniae but not group G ; Branhamella catarrhalis including Beta – lactamase-
producing strains ; Gardnerella vaginalis and  Haemophilus ducreyi, Bacillus  cereus, Corynebacterium and Listeria
monocytogenes.
Anaerobes : Bacteroides oralis, B. ureolyticus, Eubacterium and Peptostreptococcus spp, Propionibacterium acnes, and
Actinomyces sp.

INDICATIONS:
Treatment of infections caused by roxithromycin-sensitive organisms : Upper and lower respiratory tract, ear, nose and throat,
skin and soft tissue, and genitourinary tract.

DOSAGE &  ADMINISTRATION :
1 caplet twice daily, morning and evening.  Xorin is preferably taken before meals.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:  Hypersensitivity to roxithromycin, including other macrolides.

PRECAUTIONS:
Roxithromycin cannot be recommended in such patients with hepatobiliary and bile disorders, and during pregnancy.
There is no need to modify the dose in cases of renal failure and in the elderly.
Use in lactation :  Roxithromycin is minimally excreted in breast milk.

ADVERSE REACTIONS:
Skin  allergy, nausea, vomiting, gastralgia and diarrhea. Possible transient rise of ASAT/ALAT transaminase and/or alkaline
phosphatase.

INTERACTIONS:
Concomitant therapy of roxithromycin with ergot alkaloid vasoconstrictors is contraindicated.
There is no clinically significant interaction with carbamazepine while there is a weak interaction with theophylline.

STORAGE :
Store in a dry and cool place.  Avoid exposure to light.
